Minor Requirements
Minors in the English department give students the opportunity to pursue focused interests in literature, writing, and/or rhetoric. The literature and writing minors provide students with concentrated instruction in areas of interest within the English department's course offerings. The interdisciplinary minor in technical communication prepares students for careers as technical writers, editors, or information designers, or to develop the highly valued expertise of communicating effectively in any profession. The interdisciplinary minor in rhetoric offers instruction in classical and contemporary approaches to understanding how symbols work to influence thought and action.

Minor in Rhetoric
The interdisciplinary minor in rhetoric consists of courses in English and Communication Studies. Of the five courses, at least two must be taken in English, and at least two must be taken in Communication Studies.English majors may use only one course for both the English major and the minor in rhetoric. Communication Studies majors in the Public Advocacy & Rhetoric concentration may use only one course for both the Public Advocacy & Rhetoric concentration and the minor in rhetoric.
