Awards
Graduate Student Essay Prizes
Each Spring, the English Department awards two prizes for essays written for a graduate course in the preceding calendar year. One prize is awarded in the category of literature and literary studies, including film studies; the other in the category of rhetoric, composition, or linguistics. Students in the MA and PhD programs may submit work in either category or in both. Prize winners receive awards of $100 each and are honored at the end-of-year Graduate Programs reception. MA Comprehensive Exam Medalist
The MA Comprehensive Exam Medalist receives the most grades of "pass with distinction" on the MA Comprehensive Examination. Each Spring, the Medalist receives a monetary award and is honored at the end-of-year Graduate Programs reception.
