Special Student Status
Students who are interested in earning up to 12 semester hours of graduate credit prior to applying to a degree program may apply as Special students. Special students must apply directly to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and include an application, application fee, personal statement, writing sample, and official transcripts confirming an earned bachelor's degree.

Special Student Admissions Information
Prospective Special students apply to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Once your application file is complete, the Graduate School will communicate with you via email and your file will be forwarded to the department committee. The final admissions decisions are made by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences upon recommendation of the department committee.

International applicants must submit transcripts in original language of instruction and officially translated to English by the institution or an educational credential evaluation agency. - Writing Samples
Writing samples should be academically based and 10-20 pages in length. Creative writing or professional samples may accompany your academic sample, but should not serve as a substitute for it.

| Mailing Application Materials All application materials, with the exception of official transcripts, should be submitted electronically, via the online application. Official transcripts may be sent two ways: (1) directly from your school's transcript office or (2) sent by the applicant. Transcripts must be in official, sealed envelopes stamped by the Registrar.
