Students generally take five courses over the year, and incoming students often take three courses in the Fall semester. All incoming graduate students take ENGG102: Key Concepts in Rhetoric and Composition. Master's students and doctoral students holding the BA only also take ENGG101: Critical Issues. Doctoral students holding the Master's do not generally take ENGG101: Critical Issues unless their Master's study included no introduction to theory. (A student who is not sure whether to take this course should consult the advisor.) In Spring, students take a mix of core courses and electives according to their program requirements.
English course offerings and descriptions are posted online for your convenience.

Tuition waivers for both TAs and GSSes take about 8 weeks to clear, after the start of the semester. Health insurance waivers (for TAs only) take about the same amount of time to clear. As appropriate, you may let these balances remain unpaid until the waivers kick in. However, students should pay all other University fees (including the University Health and Counseling Services fee, which is separate from Health Insurance costs) on time to avoid any late fees assessed to the account. Please contact the Graduate Office if your tuition waiver does not clear after 8 weeks. - Where can I get my NU ID card?
After tuition bills have been issued, full- and part-time students may obtain a Husky Card at the Student Accounts Office, 120 Hayden Hall, by presenting a photo identification card, such as a state issued license or passport. TAs should stop by the Graduate Office to pick up a TA sticker for their ID. - Where should I bring my health report form?

To avoid registration blocks, be sure to turn in your form within the first 30 days of the semester and be sure to verify that documentation has arrived if it was sent by someone else. It is your responsibility to make sure the documents are received and are on file with Health Services.
